Synopsis of the ALERT website

Asbestos is one of the world’s most deadly industrial toxins, a category 1 human carcinogen and the main known cause of the cancer mesothelioma.

Asbestos exposure is the leading cause of work related deaths globally with someone dying every 5 minutes around the world.

Asbestos is most deadly when airborne and inhaled. Currently there is no way of proactively detecting and warning people of the lethal presence of Asbestos fibres in the air.

The Alert Project Consortium

The Alert Project Consortium is an EU funded FP7 Programme. The Consortium Members are currently working towards the development of life-saving equipment that will detect in real-time the presence of deadly airborne Asbestos fibres.
